College of Arts & Sciences

Welcome to the College of Arts and Sciences at Alvernia University, home to 27 majors and minors, 4 pre-professional programs, the Honors program, First-Year Seminar, and graduate programs in Leadership and Clinical Counseling (CACREP accredited). The College also sponsors Alvernia’s distinctive General Education SEARCH program, grounded in the liberal arts tradition of rigorous, open inquiry. SEARCH encourages students to examine complex Enduring Questions that shape the human experience. It reflects the values of exploration and discovery integral to education and aims to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills for students throughout their academic journeys. Our graduates name Alvernia’s outstanding faculty, internship and research opportunities as key to their success.

We encourage you to explore Alvernia’s website and then visit campus to meet faculty and students and experience first-hand the value of an exceptional liberal arts education in the Franciscan tradition.
