Professor Hartung is a 32-year law enforcement veteran: 5 years Cleveland Heights, Ohio Police Department, 27 years FBI. He joined the Alvernia criminal justice faculty in 2003.
He is also a Vietnam veteran, having served 5 years with the United States Air Force, with eighty-seven combat missions to his credit.
A highly-respected professor and chair of the criminal justice department, Hartung serves as a peer reviewer for the International Journal of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and the Journal of Equity & Excellence in Education. He is a consultant for the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), NIJ Consulting Database, Office of Justice Programs, United States Department of Justice.
