Primary Teachers Trainer
Peace Corps Volunteer
Mbale, Uganda
Kate Roesch developed a desire for community service during her time at Alvernia and after graduation, decided to volunteer with the Peace Corps and continue making a difference in the world. Using the techniques and methods learned at Alvernia, Kate is a Primary Teachers Trainer in Mbale, Uganda where she trains others in student-centered methods to increase critical thinking across content areas and to boost literacy. She has also developed a book about malaria that will be reproduced as a teaching resource for an organization called Stomp Out Malaria.
“I learned how much of an impact service can have on an entire community or a single individual. I always felt that I should have done more. As a result, I am now a Peace Corps volunteer,” she says.
