Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy

The Alvernia University OT Department seeks candidates for a 3-year term contract faculty position beginning August 2017.  The successful candidate will have the ability to teach a variety of occupational therapy courses at the undergraduate and graduate level; clinical expertise in pediatric settings is preferred.  Qualified candidates must be licensed or eligible for license as an OT in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, hold a minimum of a master's degree and have three to five years of clinical experience.  Preferred qualifications include a doctoral degree, current NBCOT certification, teaching experience and scholarship experience.

Doctor of Physical Therapy Program Seeking New Core Faculty

The Alvernia University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program (DPT) is seeking candidates for a full-time faculty position to begin January 2017. Physical Therapy Licensure in the Commonwealth of PA is required (or eligibility to apply and receive licensure by January 2, 2017). Candidates with a clinical doctoral degree (DPT) with specialization will be considered.  An academic doctoral degree (Ph.D., EdD, Dsc) is preferred. A demonstrated agenda of scholarly activity, academic teaching experience, and commitment to service is expected.

  • Candidates should also possess an understanding of research methodology.
  • Candidates must possess clinical expertise in one or more of the following areas: acute care, administration and management, women’s health, electrotherapy, musculoskeletal, and qualitative research methods.

The AU DPT Program achieved candidacy in 2014 and students enrolled in the Fall of 2015. The Program seeks accreditation and offers a curriculum that is learner-directed, professionally-based, service-oriented, and competency-driven.

College of Arts and Science:

Assistant Professor of Biology, Tenure-Track

The Alvernia Science and Math Department invites applications for a tenure-track position in Biology beginning in Fall 2017.  We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in Biology, with a primary focus on Genetics as well as evidence of quality teaching experience and scholarly productivity.  Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in Biology, advising students, engaging in service to the university, and developing a research program appropriate for the undergraduate level.  Secondary areas of expertise in Botany or Anatomy and Physiology are preferable.
