Graduate Assistant - Campus Ministry

Part-Time - Year Round - 20 Hours Per Week

The student must be enrolled full-time during the Fall and Spring Semesters.

Summary of Duties:

The Graduate Assistant for Campus Ministry reports to the Director of Campus Ministry and works collaboratively with the Ministry team to support Peace and Justice and Catholic Identity pillars in Campus Ministry.

Major Responsibilities/Duties:


  • Creating and sustaining programming that promotes Catholic Social Teaching and Peace and Justice issues on campus.  Special emphasis will be placed on fostering our partnership with Catholic Relief Services , as well as, continuing the To Be A Refugee Experience and other programming in the department.

  • Promoting Catholic Identity on campus, including the celebration of Sunday Mass, small faith groups to promote Catholicism on campus (such as praying the rosary or adoration) and other Catholic life-traditions included on campus.

  • Lead peace and Social Justice and Catholic Identity Pillars of the Campus Ministry Leadership Team (CMLT is the group of student campus ministers who lead all campus ministry events.)

  • Other specific duties as assigned by the Director of Campus Ministry.

  • Promote Franciscan ideals and the mission of Alvernia University.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Flexible schedule including some evening and weekend hours.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Understanding of the Catholic tradition, Catholic Social Teaching and service anbd solidarity issues.

  • Experience in Campus Ministry setting or familiarity with Alvernia Campus Ministry perferred but not required.

  • Ability to relate to professionals and students and work in a busy environment.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Maintain a 3.0 Cumulative GPA in graduate education at Alvernia University
