Alvernia's Entrepreneurship Business students, Julian Rodriguez, Matt Osgoodby, and Thomas Rymal have been named the first place winners in the 2016 Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce New Business Idea Challenge.

Their business idea, JMT Bakers Dozen, is an upscale café serving gourmet eats to canines and their owners located at a beach setting. At the onset, JMT Bakers Dozen will operate in the months of May through October.

This year's competition had 41 quality business plan entries. Nine finalists were selected to compete in a Shark Tank event. After the Shark Tank competition, the top three finalists were selected to receive a monetary recognition award.

Although not a top three winner, another Alvernia business team, Mickey Brutto, Dan Ardekani, and Corey Meeler, and their business idea FitBeer, was one of the nine finalist teams who competed in the Shark Tank event.
