Welcome Class of 2020!

Alvernia's newest students — the Class of 2020 — arrived on campus Thursday, August 18 to kick-off a full slate of events happening over Orientation Weekend!

After a throng of Orientation Weekend Leaders worked with Resident Assistants, faculty, staff, and alumni volunteers to help first year students move in to residence halls — everyone met on the university's new Arrival Court at Francis Hall to celebrate plans for a major university expansion!

During the celebration, Reading Mayor Wally Scott proclaimed the following day to be Alvernia University Day in the City of Reading.

And for Alvernia University Day (Friday, August 19) more than 450 Alvernians took part in the university's Orientation Day of Service — spreading out through 17 schools in the Reading School District to complete service work.

They cleaned up gardens, playgrounds, and walk ways around the schools...

Painted murals, organized supplies...

And even cataloged entire libraries.
