O'Pake Lecture with Richard Florida - Nov. 8


On Nov. 8, Richard Florida, author of The New Urban Crisis” will delive Alvernia’s 2017 O’Pake Lecture at Reading's DoubleTree Hotel.  
Florida'swork helped spark the transformation of a number of cities, including Pittsburgh. More recently, he’s been focusing on the impact of gentrification and income inequality on community revitalization.

The annual O’Pake Lecture at Alvernia University features prominent public figures focusing on issues related to civility, ethics, leadership and public service, in memory of Pennsylvania Senator and Alvernia Board of Trustees member Michael O'Pake. The Inaugural Lecture was held in September 2013, featuring U.S. Senator Robert P. Casey, Jr., on “Civility and Compromise.” In 2014, U.S. Representative Jim Gerlach discussed “Civility, Compromise and Public Service.”
