Graduate Writing Retreat

Fall 2017

All currently enrolled Alvernia graduate students are invited to participate in our summer Graduate Writing Retreat on Friday, November 17, 2017 and Saturday, November 18, 2017 in the Campus Commons Living Room at Alvernia University. Take advantage of this opportunity to make measurable progress on your research and writing projects!

At our orientation on Friday night, we will enjoy light refreshments as we hear tips and tricks for success in long-term writing projects from Alvernia faculty and staff. We’ll take time to create achievable goals for the retreat, and we’ll chat with one another about our challenges and successes in order to motivate and support each other. Each retreat participant will be matched with an accountability partner with whom to share goals and progress throughout our time together.

On Saturday morning we’ll gather for breakfast and review our goals for the retreat. Then, we’ll have three hours of dedicated research/writing time where you can work uninterrupted in our cozy living room environment as part of our community of graduate student writers. We’ll have refreshments for you to enjoy throughout the day that will be sure to keep your mind sharp and your spirit motivated. We’ll break for lunch at noon while we listen to a valuable presentation on how to take our writing skills to the next level. We’ll cap off our break with some relaxation exercises and an outdoor walk through Alvernia’s beautiful grounds to rejuvenate our bodies and minds for the next round of writing. After our next three-hour writing segment, we’ll come together as a group to have a snack, share our progress, and reflect on our accomplishments and challenges throughout the course of the retreat.

The fall Graduate Writing Retreat is just the ticket to a successful season of research/writing progress and academic achievement. Upon registration, a non-refundable one-time fee of $15 will be billed to your student account.

Please contact Amanda Funk with any questions about the retreat. A follow-up email will be sent the week before the event to registered participants. We look forward to meeting you at the retreat!

Registration is not yet open for this event. Check back soon!
