Billing

The Health & Wellness Center will provide the student with a bill for services rendered at our facility.  Fees for testing, immunizations, and medications will be charged to the student’s account which the student can then pay online or at the Office of Student Accounts.  The Health & Wellness Center will provide the Office of Student Accounts with the student’s name, ID number, date of service, and amount of the bill.  No medical information will be shared with the Office of Student Accounts.  The Health & Wellness Center does not participate with any medical insurance companies or file any insurance claims on behalf of the student.  We can provide the necessary clinical information to the student in order to seek reimbursement on his/her own.

The student is financially responsible for any services provided outside of our office including lab work sent to an outside laboratory.  It is the responsibility of the student to know which hospital, laboratory, and/or pharmacy is preferred by his/her health insurance company.

FAQ

What should I do in an emergency?

When should I make an appointment to be seen?
1. If you have a fever greater than 100°
2. If you have had cold symptoms greater than 7 days
3. If you have abdominal pain, shortness of breath, chest pain or other concerns.
4. If you are concerned about your health
5. For STD testing or to discuss concerns

Can my parents make my appointment or call for information about my health?
Students must schedule appointments for themselves, we cannot schedule appointments through parents, guardians, roommates or friends.  Family members or guardians are not able to receive any medical or mental health information from our office without written consent signed by the student.

How much does it cost to go to the doctor at the Health & Wellness Center?
It is free to see one of our nurses or doctors.  You may be charged a small fee for medication or lab tests and those fees will be billed to your student account as a “health fee.”  You are financially responsible for any services provided outside of the Health & Wellness Center.  See Billing for more details.

What should I bring to school in my first aid kit?
We recommend all students have a selection of band aids as well as over-the-counter medicines for common illnesses such as colds, diarrhea, fevers, aches and pains so they have preferred medicines on hand when they need them.  We have many over-the-counter medications available for a small fee, but students do need to schedule an appointment to purchase these medications.  In addition, we recommend all students have a thermometer.  An inexpensive oral digital one is adequate.
